It would be great to have trailers/documentary with good subtitles in
different languages in the future.
I completely agree DH should be taking a more active role in the OA
movement, and also offer best practices on open source software,
publishing, ways of collaboration, etc. The Open should also be part of the
Global goals of DH.
We are celebrating OpenCon Latam on September 29th in Buenos Aires, as part
of the Open Data week. We will have streaming of the keynotes, if someone
is interested in joing us.

*II Edición de OpenCon LatAm 2018: “Abrimos puertas”*


El sábado de 29 de septiembre, la Ciudad de Buenos Aires será la sede de la
segunda edición de OpenCon LatAm 2018, la conferencia regional que reúne a
estudiantes, profesionales y académicos que impulsan el acceso abierto en
datos, ciencia y educación. La jornada tendrá lugar de 9 a 17 en la
Universidad Metropolitana para la Educación y el Trabajo (Sarmiento 2037,
Buenos Aires).

Durante el evento disertarán Dominique Babini (CLACSO, Latam), Diego Gómez
(Colombia) y Javiera Atenas (OKFN Educación e ILDA), entre otros expertos
nacionales y regionales. Además, habrá mesas redondas, talleres
presenciales y webinars alrededor de los tres ejes de apertura:
publicaciones, educación y datos.

OpenCon LatAm 2018 es el evento satélite de la conferencia global OpenCon
que es organizada año a año por SPARC y the Right to Research Coalition en
algunas de las ciudades más importantes del mundo.

*¿De dónde venimos?*

La representación latinoamericana en la comunidad OpenCon creció desde las
últimas conferencias, sobre todo luego de la edición 2016, cuando se
incrementó el número de participantes de países de la región, como
Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, México,
Nicaragua, Perú y Puerto Rico. El resultado fue la formación de un comité
internacional dedicado a promover una reunión satélite en América latina,
enfocada en debates y problemáticas de la región.

*¿A dónde vamos?*

Desde OpenCon LatAm buscamos reunir a estudiantes, profesionales,
profesores, financiadores y más, que enfrentan estos desafíos todos los
días y están listos para hacer una lluvia de ideas de soluciones y abogar
por el cambio a nivel institucional, nacional e internacional. Nuestro
objetivo es forjar nuevas conexiones entre organizaciones en cada uno de
nuestros países para coordinar los esfuerzos mundiales de promoción.
Además, esperamos que nuestro evento conduzca a colaboraciones
transfronterizas que beneficiarán a los sectores de ciencia y tecnología de
cada país y aumentarán la visibilidad de la investigación latinoamericana.
