Estimados compañeros, Os hacemos llegar un curso de verano organizado por el Laboratorio de Humanidades Digitales de la UNED<https://linhd.uned.es/>. El curso lleva por título Creación de un proyecto en Humanidades Digitales basado en el análisis de textos: modelado y procesamiento<https://extension.uned.es/actividad/idactividad/24581> y se celebrará del 28 al 30 de junio. Puede realizarse presencialmente o en línea (en directo o en diferido), tiene una duración de 20 horas y será eminentemente práctico. La investigación en Humanidades Digitales no ha dejado de crecer en los últimos años y son cada vez más los proyectos de historiadores, filólogos, o antropólogos que utilizan la tecnología para el análisis de corpus literarios en busca de patrones, la construcción de mapas digitales interactivos para una mejor visualización de los resultados de sus investigaciones, o la geolocalización de enclaves a los que se añaden capas de información multimedia, entre otras muchas posibilidades. Los humanistas digitales tienen un futuro prometedor en un área en crecimiento en el que se requieren perfiles profesionales mixtos y flexibles, capaces de organizar y etiquetar objetos digitales; así como gestionar su visualización y preservación en un entorno digital. Sin embargo, para desarrollar la investigación en esta área se ha de disponer de ciertos conocimientos técnicos tales como los que se abordan en el curso que os presentamos. El objetivo del mismo es diseñar un proyecto de humanidades digitales, desde el modelado del dominio hasta la creación de resultados y su diseminación, haciendo uso de lenguajes de programación, técnicas de modelado y visualización provenientes del mundo de la inteligencia artificial. Comenzaremos con una aproximación al mundo de las Humanidades Digitales y las problemáticas que surgen para el análisis de textos. Después, nos acercaremos a las metodologías y técnicas para resolver esos problemas mediante el modelado semántico y la perspectiva de los datos enlazados y lenguajes de marcas. Asimismo, se presentarán nuevos paradigmas computacionales relacionados con la Inteligencia Artificial como el procesamiento de textos, la estilometría, el deep learning, etc., y su aplicación. Any person involved in the creation or application of these resources —including researchers; instructors; staff of libraries, museums, and archives; programmers, and undergraduate and graduate students— is welcome to participate. El’Manuscript 2022 is the ninth in a series of biennial international conferences entitled “Textual Heritage and Information Technologies”. The conferences bring together linguists, specialists in historical source criticism, IT specialists, and others involved in studying and publishing our textual heritage. Call for participants: Digital Humanities Introductory Workshop The Departments of Classics and Philosophy and History and Archaeology, University of Cyprus (UCY), invite participants to join a 5-day Digital Humanities Introductory Workshop, to take place between 23-27 May 2022 at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia. The workshop will offer introductions to a range of archaeological and philological technologies, including features of EpiDoc XML, linguistic analysis (including treebanking and translation alignment), 3D Imaging, GIS, and Linked Open Geographical Data. The workshop will be suitable for advanced undergraduates, postgraduates and early career scholars with little or no previous experience of digital humanities. The workshop will be capped at 20 participants. A limited number of spaces will also be available for remote, asynchronous participants. Those participating physically will have to comply with UCY’s safety protocols, which will depend on the epidemiological situation during the time the event is held. REMINDER - Survey: Use of the TEI in Spanish

Dear list members, We apologize for those of you who have already answered, but we would like to send this reminder to please participate in our survey. As part of the Mellon-funded initiative “Communicating the TEI to a multilingual community,” we are researching the contexts and uses of the Text Encoding Initiative among the global Spanish-speaking community. If you have used the TEI for your research or taken any TEI course at any level, and you are either part of the Global Spanish-speaking community or work with Spanish texts encoded in TEI, you are kindly invited to answer these questions. We are interested in surveying the different scenarios where TEI is used, the geographical diversity, and needs for training and learning resources. We are launching this survey in the hopes of covering all those Spanish-speaking areas, but also all those projects and users from other regions working with Spanish primary sources (e.g. projects in the US, using primary sources in Spanish, etc.). The survey consists of 22 questions and should not take more than 10 minutes to complete. The survey is anonymous, although we ask about your affiliation and nationality in order to obtain a better understanding from a geographical point of view (we do not ask for demographic information such as age, gender, ethnicity or religion). The survey’s data will be used for a Report on the uses of the TEI and the needs of the Spanish community.
