Dear Harriet, Grover, and list-

In working in DH for awhile, it seems there is a natural progression/process from initial excitement about a project, through the research, building, launch, maintenance and then sundown phases.  Every step of the way can be intellectually productive, yet we don't quite know what to do with all the work along the way, and how to assess and preserve its value.

The Digital Documentation Process (DDP) is a response to these concerns, and provides a set of best practices for cataloguing digital project work, whether ongoing or completed, thus making it findable and citable for future scholars. I recently gave a workshop on this approach for the Medieval Academy of America, and produced a short (11 minute) video to introduce it.

The DDP has been implemented at several institutions, and benefits the project directors but also grants credit to project participants (who are glad to list catalogued projects on their respective CVs). Happy to talk more with anyone who is interested.
