I was on the committee that put this award together and a goal is to really find a way of recognising the things in DH that are crucial to the field but not always easy to reward or otherwise recognise. It is also very much intended not to be a career award--i.e. it can be awarded to anybody at any career stage and it should be for the contribution, not the career that lead up to the contribution (or lack of a career).
