Hi all,I will be able to check for double votes once the Thursday deadline passes. We do have specific by laws to attend to regarding voting. Here they are: http://www.globaloutlookdh.org/bylaws/Here is the specific bylaw related to voting. Note that we need 25% of the membership. At this point, we are at 10%. If we don’t hit 25% it bounces back to the executive. I, for one, will abide by the vote of the majority, though it is not required.
- Amendments to these bylaws can be proposed by the GO::DH Executive or by the petition from the membership at large.
- A proposal for amendment by the membership requires the support of an elected member of the executive or 10 members of the mailing list.
- Proposed amendments will be published on the GO::DH mailing list (globaloutlookdh-l) and the GO::DH website with a minimum 10 day period requesting comments by the GO::DH membership.
- The GO::DH Executive will discuss comments on the proposed amendments received from the GO::DH membership incorporating changes agreed by a simple majority of the GO::DH Executive.
- The agreed version of the amended bylaws will be presented as a whole to the GO::DH membership for voting over a minimum 7 day period. The amended version of the bylaws will pass with a two-thirds majority of votes cast during the voting period, provided quorum has been met.
- Quorum for approval by the membership shall be 25% of the total membership.
- In the event quorum is not reached, the Executive may approve amendments to the Bylaws by a supermajority. In such a case, the Executive should consider carefully the results of the membership election, though it is not bound by it.
To date, everyone that has contacted me about voting issues has successfully voted with alternative emails.Best,AmyAmy EarhartAssociate ProfessorDepartment of EnglishLAAH 469MS4227College Station, Texas 77843-4227979 862-3038

- Hopefully there is a way to ensure that those registered with two email accounts vote only once?
- I wonder as well if there is a minimum % of votes we would be asking for in order for the decision to count-- what if a non-representative minority votes? Maybe voting (assuming all members do recveive a link to vote) should be a condition to be a member, if you ask me... ;)
- I can't recall if there was one but in retrospect, maybe an option for "none of the above" would have been good so those feeling they prefer to abstain had an option for their vote to be counted.
Just thinking out loud... maybe to consider in the future...Carry on...All the best and many thanksErnesto_______________________________________________@ernestopriego

I have checked the ballot bin invites and it marks both Peter and Tunde as successfully invited. Because of the way ballot bin is set up I cannot resend a invitation to the original email. Instead, I think the best solution is for those who have not received the invitation to provide an alternative email. I will add the new email to the invitation list and resend the voting link. To accommodate this, I will extend voting through Thursday, December 14 at midnight GMT.
For those that have not received an invitation, please contact me directly with an alternative email. I will cross check against the received ballots so we don’t have double voting and then send an invitation to the new address.
Best,
Amy
