Dear colleagues and friends,

We would like to announce our upcoming online workshop »Research Data in the Humanities. Implementing Semantic Research Platforms« (October 4th – 8th 2021, 10-12h CEST).

The workshop will introduce core technologies developed for the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI), providing practical solutions for implementing Knowledge Graph platforms for data production and data publication in the Digital Humanities. Conceived as an onboarding event, the workshop is structured as a series of one to two 45 minute presentations, hands-on sessions and use case presentations taking place over the course of five days. Participants should be able to reproduce and implement their local research infrastructure at the end of the week.

The first three days of the workshop will focus on technology implemented at the Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) and SARI’s Reference Data Service (RDS) platform. RDS provides a single interface for linking to a variety of reference data sources, a platform for creating new reference and research data, and a mechanism for publishing data to a public infrastructure. Days four and five of the workshop will discuss use cases from various partner institutions, their local implementations of semantic research platforms and data pipelines based on Knowledge Graph technology..

The intended audience are researchers in the Digital Humanities as well as developers in knowledge graph technology. The goal is to enable researchers to understand the potential of semantic data  and to enable developers to make use of the SARI technology stack.

Organisation:

Swiss Art Research Infrastructure (SARI) in cooperation with its partner ETH Zurich (Institute gta), Villa I Tatti (The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies) and Metaphacts GmbH.
