I support that we all read the post as suggested by Domenico.
Thank you for the thoughtful and insightful post on the true 'global' state of our DH community(-ies). I was just a little bit surprised that Africa was completely ignored or neglected in the post.
Thankfully GO::DH is striving to bridge that gap. It has opened its doors to support our initiatives in the Global South. For instance, Dan (i.e. Prof O'Donnell) was with us at the University of Lagos, Nigeria as keynote speaker and workshop facilitator during our 1st Lagos Summer School in Digital Humanities ( July 10-15, 2017).
Just an additional piece of information. Between November 14 and 18, 2017, I will be hosting the 1st International Conference in Digital Humanities at the University of Lagos, Nigeria supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Germany as part of its alumni network programmes. Let me again return to the post by saying that it has raised a number of soul-searching thoughts. More importantly, it mentioned some of the challenges we face in the Global South and how we seek equal and fair treatment from other DH associations and groups.
We hope we can move this conversation forward to achieve a more productive and mutually beneficial but truly global DH scholarship and communities.
