On November 4th-5th, Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park will host the “Manuscripts in the Digital Age Workshop," which is co-sponsored by Tufts University’s Perseids Project, UMD’s Arts and Humanities Center for Synergy, UMD’s School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SLLC), and Kent State University’s School of Library and Information Science). It will bring together researchers, curators, librarians, and technical specialists from the Perseus Digital Library, Library of Congress, Digital Latin Library, Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies (UPenn), Freer & Sackler Galleries, and Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities to discuss the technical challenges for the creation of an integrated online "manuscript workspace."

The technical participants in this workshop want to better understand the needs and types of functionality that scholars, students, citizen scientists, and those working in the GLAM sector would ideally like to see in such a workspace.
