What's New for 2025?

To better support our clients and achieve focused outcomes, we are:

  • Consolidating into a single program to streamline access to funding and support for SMEs. The unified AICE program currently offers the following funding streams:
    • AICE-Validate: Up to $300,000 to help validate technology, product-market fit, business model, and regulatory path
    • AICE-Market Access: Up to $600,000 to accelerate clinical trials, market entry and real-world adoption.
  • Re-aligning the program to our new updated Health Innovation Roadmap to better help companies assess their current stage and accelerate the journey to market and scale-up.
  • Re-focusing the program to support all types of health technologies that require robust preclinical and clinical evidence to ultimately achieve regulatory approval, reimbursement and/or market adoption.
  • Re-imaging new, distinct programing for post-secondary and public sector organizations – See further information below.

Evolution of the former AICE-Concepts program:

Alberta Innovates is evolving its health programing for early-stage innovators and public sector entities to better align to a new strategy focused on collaboration, ecosystem engagement, commercialization, and economic growth.

New partnership models are being explored to harness public sector strengths to meet industry needs and inform policy, ultimately accelerating the path from research to market impact.  We plan to engage post-secondary and public sector community stakeholders in the coming months to help us co-design these opportunities. Updates will be shared via mailing list and social media.   For more information, contact Dr. Markian Bahniuk at
Markian.Bahniuk@albertainnovates.ca

SMEs are encouraged to engage with their
Technology Development Advisor for additional program offerings.
