Hello Colleagues,

The University of Lethbridge is deeply committed to cultivating international collaborations and attracting exceptional scholars, reinforcing our position as a hub for research excellence amid a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape and an era of accelerated technological innovation. In this dynamic environment, all participants in the research ecosystem must understand the importance of research security and their role in maintaining it.

A modern research mindset demands adaptability and equips all actors with the tools and resources to protect and preserve the Canadian research ecosystem actively. In ensuring this, ORIS has made the Government of Canada Research Security Training Modules accessible via your SSO login, eliminating the need to use GC Keys on the government site.

Completing these trainings is crucial for implementing best practices in safeguarding research and meeting funder and government requirements to protect research and intellectual property from national security risks.

Instructions:

  1. All researchers have been granted access to the modules on the ULethbridge website. Some may have started receiving access emails already.
  2. Please navigate to the "Course: Information Security for Researchers | UofL" and complete the two modules: "Introduction to Research Security" and "Cybersecurity Training for Researchers."
  3. Also consider attending any applicable Safeguarding Science Workshops by the Public Safety Canada Research Security Centre, Safeguarding Your Research | University of Lethbridge (the last resource on the page).

Please direct all inquiries to research.security@uleth.ca.

Best wishes,

Dena
