Hello Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Alex Engel, our new Mitacs Business Development Advisor, who will be taking over the role previously held by Hannah Scott. Although Alex will be based at ULethbridge, he will also support other participating institutions in Southern Alberta, including Lethbridge Polytechnic, Red Crow Community College, and Medicine Hat College.

Alex recently completed a Master of Arts in Kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge, where his research explored the perceptions of gym users and their engagement with fitness spaces. Alex's work experience includes teaching and research at the university level, coordinating projects, hosting a podcast with the Lethbridge Sport Council, mentoring athletes, and working in various labour roles, including a stint at Desert Blume Golf Course. Throughout his academic, sporting, and professional experiences, he has developed a passion for leadership, mentorship, and helping others grow.
He enjoys golfing, snowboarding, camping, and spending time with his family in his free time.
