DIRECTOR Digital Humanities Observatory Republic of Ireland
Applications are invited for a 3 year fixed term contract position of Director of the Digital Humanities Observatory (DHO). Funded under Cycle 4 of PRTLI, the Academy and its partners will build a joint national platform for the coordination and dissemination of humanities research, teaching and training at an all-island level. The key infrastructural element of the consortium will be the DHO. The DHO will be an electronic access portal and research resource for the humanities, designed, hosted and operated by the RIA. Reporting to the Academy's Executive Secretary and Principal Investigator, the Director will be responsible for:
-- establishing, servicing and providing leadership for this shared on-line national data service for the humanities -- coordinating distributed networks and the delivery of a digital data archive -- managing the recruitment of specialist and support staff and establishing the project's physical infrastructure -- providing both academic and administrative leadership for the DHO -- developing a network of national and international partnerships and sourcing new funding opportunities.
The Director will have a minimum of five years' postdoctoral experience with a strong background in humanities research and teaching, as well as significant expertise in the field of digital humanities.
