The evaluation period for HTREC Challenge has been extended until July 1st, 2022. Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) concerns the conversion of digital images of handwritten text into machine-encoded text. HTR Error-Correction (HTREC) can improve the results and speed up human transcription. The HTREC Challenge is using recent advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for the correction of errors, focusing on Greek papyri and Byzantine manuscripts. Simple rules may make a positive difference. Interdisciplinary teams of IT specialists, Byzantinists, historians and philologists are particularly encouraged to join the challenge.
