I was on the committee that put this award together and a goal is to really find a way of recognising the things in DH that are crucial to the field but not always easy to reward or otherwise recognise. It is also very much intended /not/ to be a career award--i.e. it can be awarded to anybody at any career stage and it should be for the contribution, not the career that lead up to the contribution (or lack of a career).
