This message is being forwarded from the Digital Classicist listserv, but I think it is just as pertinant for this list (though the objects initially being worked with are "classical" the technology will be no less relevant for newer artifacts). The EDUCE project is a collaborative effort between computer scientists at University of Kentucky and Iowa State and classicists at the University of Kentucky. Assistant Professor – Medieval Literature The English Department, University of Kentucky, seeks a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in Medieval literature. Evidence of scholarly promise and teaching ability required. Ph.D. expected at time of appointment. Teaching load is two courses per semester; teaching responsibilities will normally include graduate, advanced undergraduate, and introductory courses in this area, as well as graduate and possibly undergraduate courses in the history of the English language. We are especially interested in the particular problems of editing law texts (as opposed to editing other types of texts) and issues of editing in an electronic environment for digital publication and dissemination. We will invite contributions on all sorts of law texts, including but not limited to laws municipal, confraternal, canon, and secular, and monastic regulations, in Latin and vernacular languages. Last Call: Nominations for TEI Board and Council

The Text Encoding Initiative Consortium (TEI-C) invites nominations for election to the TEI-C Board and Council. Nominations should be sent to Daniel O'Donnell at daniel.odonnell(a)uleth.ca by September 4, 2006. Elections will take place at the annual Members' Meeting in October, 2005. Self-nominations are welcome and common. They should include a brief statement of interest and biographical paragraph. All nominations should include an email address for the nominee and should indicate whether the nomination is for Board or Council. The TEI-C Board is the governing body for the TEI Consortium, and is responsible for its strategic and financial oversight. The TEI-C Council oversees the technical development of the TEI Guidelines. Service in either group is an opportunity to help the TEI grow and serve its members better. Hi all, The journal is temporarily down. This is due to a problem at the TEI website that is affecting the processing of our XML. I'm surprised to see no redundancy was built in and am doing my best to fix it. With the Labour day weekend in Canada and the US (the TEI site is hosted at Virginia, I believe), it may take a little while for service to be restored. -d
