Hello colleagues,
I have great news for you. The Expand Your Research Globally - Mitacs Globalink Research Award<https://www.mitacs.ca/our-programs/globalink-research-award/> (GRA) Program supports research collaborations between Canada and eligible countries and regions through international intern mobility. Mitacs has given the ULethbridge the opportunity to enhance the international mobility of its students and postdoctoral fellows by increasing the GRA program allocation from 5 to 8 internship units for the current fiscal year 2025-26 (ending March 31, 2026).
Each intern will receive $6,000 per internship unit (IU):
*
$6,000 research award to conduct one 12- to 24-week research project in the other country. This is one internship unit (IU).
*
$12,000 research award to conduct one 24- to 48-week research project or two 12- to 24-week research projects in the other country. This is two internship units (IUs).
The internship may be hosted by you in Canada (inbound) or involve sending your student abroad (outbound). Please note that for inbound mobility, all countries are eligible except for Russia and North Korea.
A first-come, first-served basis will apply to the eight units. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please email oris.pcc(a)uleth.ca promptly, as this allocation terminates in March 2026.
All the best in your research.

Good afternoon,
This is just a reminder that tomorrow there will be a workshop on Open Access publishing. In this session, researchers will learn about the various considerations involved in publishing their work. Librarians will provide an overview of Open Access (OA) publishing, including types of OA policies and resources for evaluating publishers and journals. The workshop will also cover costs, resources, guidelines, and tips highlighting the essentials of publishing your work, with a focus on OA publication – to meet grant requirements, boost your citations, promote your research, and more equitably share information.

Good morning everyone,
There is a CIHR workshop tomorrow hosted by Dr. Sutherland. It will be an interactive time to review the application process, tips for successful applications, and review any questions you might have about the application.
Zoom link is here:
Topic: CIHR Workshop with Dr. Sutherland
Time: Aug 6, 2025 10:00 AM Mountain Time (US and Canada)
Join Zoom Meeting
https://uleth.zoom.us/j/99648972911
Meeting ID: 996 4897 2911
This 1.5-hour virtual workshop will be very interactive, and participants will learn more about:
* Drafting proposals to meet the adjudication criteria.
* Selecting peer review panels strategically.
*
Decoding reviewers' feedback & responding for successful resubmission.
The deadline to register a CIHR project grant is Wednesday, August 13, 6pm MST. Registration requires a short summary of the project, a total budget number, and key terms and identifying the institute and the committee you are applying to. Information about registration is found here: https://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/49503.html
For the registration, you do not need to work with ORIS or obtain institutional approval. The registration allows CIHR to prepare review committees to fit the application demand, so the summary and key terms you select will determine the background and expertise of the researchers who will review your application. Most of the information can be updated or changed between the registration and application stage (such as the other collaborators or co-applicants for the project).
The internal deadline for the full proposal is Wednesday, August 27. The external CIHR deadline is September 10, 6pm MST. I would be happy to work with you and provide feedback and information about the application.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Cheers,
