We are pleased to invite you to a CIHR Project Grant Workshop led by Dr. Christian Baron.

Time: 1:00-3:00 PM
Dr. Baron is an experienced academic consultant and formerly served as the Vice-President of Research – Programs at CIHR, as well as Department Chair and Vice-Dean of Research at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine. His own research has been funded by CIHR and other agencies, and he has extensive experience serving on CIHR and other grant review panels.
Workshop Overview
The first half of the session will focus on key elements of developing a strong CIHR Project Grant application, including:
* Grant planning and preparation
* Committee selection
* Strategies for revising a resubmission
* Transition to the new TCV
* Common mistakes and practical advice for writing a competitive application
The second half will feature an interactive grant review exercise, providing participants with hands-on insight into how proposals are evaluated.
Both portions of the workshop will be offered in a hybrid format.
Registration is required, regardless of whether you plan to attend in person or online.

The University of Lethbridge invites eligible faculty members to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the 2027 National Killam Program Awards<https://programmekillamprogram.powerappsportals.com/en-CA/>, including the Killam Prizes, the Dorothy Killam Fellowships and the Killam NRC Paul Corkum Fellowships.
Candidates interested in applying for these awards must submit a complete EOI by March 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. through the 2027 National Killam Program Awards EOI Form<https://forms.office.com/r/Zdkc189jtH>. Early submissions are encouraged.
The Killam Prizes<https://programmekillamprogram.powerappsportals.com/en-CA/fundingopportunit…> are awarded to active Canadian scholars who have distinguished themselves through sustained research excellence, making a significant impact in their respective fields in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, and engineering.
Award amount: $100,000

The Dorothy Killam Fellowships<https://programmekillamprogram.powerappsportals.com/en-CA/fundingopportunit…> provide support to scholars of exceptional ability by granting them time to pursue research projects of broad significance and widespread interest within the disciplines of the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, engineering or studies linking any of these disciplines.
*Note that selected candidates will be required to obtain approval from their faculty Dean to move forward in the nomination process.
Award amount and duration: $80,000/year for two years
Program Application Deadline: May 21, 2026

The Killam NRC Paul Corkum Fellowships<https://programmekillamprogram.powerappsportals.com/en-CA/fundingopportunit…> provide support to distinguished scholars, granting them time to pursue a novel project in collaboration with an NRC researcher, leveraging NRC facilities.
The Killam NRC Paul Corkum Fellowship may support a specific collaborative project, a knowledge exchange initiative, a novel multidisciplinary collaboration, or other scholarly pursuits that advance knowledge.
*Note that selected candidates will be required to obtain approval from their faculty Dean to move forward in the nomination process.
Award amount and duration: $150,000 for 12 months
Program Application Deadline: June 9, 2026.
