Dear Climate Colleagues:
A reminder to please consider submitting an abstract to our GEOHEALTH<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/48260> or EDUCATION<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/50796> Session at the FALL AGU, Dec 10-14, 2018. We are building towards the spring AGU-Climate Solutions Conference (CSC) in Vancouver. SCD is a well-developed group of experts than can and hopefully will contribute solutions expertise to this initiative. The Call for Abstracts for the GEOHEALTH and EDUCATION Sessions are attached, as is the DRAFT AGU-CSC plan.

CALL FOR CLIMATE EDUCATORS SUBMISSIONS AND COLLABORATIONS
AGU FALL MEETING 2018 AND CLIMATE SOLUTIONS CONFERENCE 2019
FALL MEETING ABSTRACT DEADLINE AUGUST 1, 2018
In spring 2019, AGU is hosting the first annual Climate Solutions Conference (CSC). We are seeking educators and educator teams, who are willing to be present at the conference to collaborate on creating open education resources about specific solutions to climate change challenges at the CSC. We invite abstracts for presentation and development at the 2018 AGU Fall Meeting in our Education Session<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/50796>. For this session, we are seeking input into how the proceedings and findings of the conference could be turned into open education resources (needs, requirements, opportunities) and how they could subsequently be disseminated globally (including translation).
All conference attendees may submit an abstract to an Education Session in addition to a scientific session. See AGU First Authorship Policy<https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2018/files/2018/04/018_28824_FM18_First_Author_…>.
Please contact the conveners for a copy of the CSC operation plan for an overview of scope and intend. Please refer to our GeoHealth session<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/48260> if you may wish to co-lead or participate in a theme.
AGU Climate Solutions Conferences - Building Open Education Resources from Multidisciplinary Climate Change Solutions Partnerships
Conveners: James Byrne (byrne(a)uleth.ca<mailto:byrne@uleth.ca>) and Roland Kroebel (roland.kroebel(a)agr.gc.ca<mailto:roland.kroebel@agr.gc.ca>)
The world wants climate solutions. Beginning in spring 2019, the AGU Climate Solutions Conferences will build pathways and partnerships for communities to discover, define, investigate, and implement climate solutions. We must minimize global warming, maximize societal and environmental resilience and adaptive capacity for communities around the world. Climate solutions are human rights solutions – diversity is a central premise of the Climate Solutions Conference.
The conveners seek education partnerships to create open source education materials based on themes developed at the AGU Climate Solutions Conferences beginning spring 2019. The target audience includes high schools, colleges and universities. Hence, we are seeking long term partnerships to develop and update education resources in concert with the annual AGU Climate Solutions Conference. We envision this initiative creating a climate change education solutions group within the AGU.
The CSC Committee is hosting a parallel GeoHealth session<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/48260> at the 2018 AGU Fall Meeting. Presenting educators are strongly encouraged to attend the GeoHealth Session to gain an overview over the proposed themes and to potentially make first contact with individual theme leads.
The Fall Meeting Education Session will provide presenting teams the opportunity to meet with the CSC Leadership Committee, and to interact with the broader AGU Community through the session and through a proposed CSC town hall.
Again, please do not hesitate to discuss any ideas with the conveners.

We must minimize global warming, maximize societal and environmental resilience and adaptive capacity for communities around the world. Climate solutions are human rights solutions – diversity is a central theme of the conferences. The organizers seek abstracts from interested session leads on any and all possible themes addressing climate solutions. Presenters will be invited to organize a theme working group followed by an interdisciplinary breakout session for the presented theme at the 2019 conference. Key objectives include generation of peer-reviewed, open-source publications and open education resources.
The CSC Committee is hosting a parallel Education session<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/50796> at the 2018 AGU Fall Meeting. Theme leaders are strongly encouraged to attend the Education Session to expand awareness of the interactive approach between themes and development of associated education resources.
