Dear colleagues,
Please consider submitting your abstract to our AGU 2020 session on climate solutions for agriculture
While it is debated how much agriculture contributes to climate change through its emissions of carbon from land use changes, as well as methane and nitrous oxides from its practices, there is no doubt that reversing the first, and lowering the latter two, would buy us time to transition the world to a net zero carbon society/economy. New experiments are conducted worldwide on what could work in agriculture, outreach is conducted, and national estimates are updated. This session invites all those who would like to think forward and focus their efforts at solving climate change with what is viable in agriculture.

Societies and environmental researchers are on a slippery slope where multiple related and unrelated crises will dramatically increase political, economic, environmental, and military stressors regionally and globally. More than ever, environmental researchers must reach out to all societal sectors with no regrets solutions that will allow humanity to continue to function with peaceful, secure resource sharing plans, policies and interactions. This session will feature a number of global leaders perspectives on how environmental research can best serve societies now, and in the coming decades.
