motivée* à eliana.magnani(a)univ-paris1.fr
*Programme*

We are pleased to invite submissions for lightning talk presentations (5 minutes) at the half-day workshop "Accelerating DH Education" taking place *Monday 8th July from 9am to 1pm* at DH2019 in Utrecht.
The workshop offers an exceptional platform for communication between DH practitioners, specialists in educational sciences and digital innovation strategists. Among its organisers are people connected to several Dutch universities and research institutions alongside nationwide initiatives SURF (the collaborative ICT organisation for Dutch education and research) and the VSNU (the Dutch Association of Universities) that together in 2018 initiated the national "Acceleration plan educational innovation with ICT". This combination of DH experts and educational specialists presents a unique opportunity to consider a shared strategic agenda for innovation in DH education.
The workshop is organised primarily around two strands of discussion:
(1) *Open Education*. Open Education can be defined in multiple ways, we will zoom in on the aspects that could be of relevance to Digital Humanities education, and to map and imagine its implications for accessible, inclusive and sustainable approaches to its delivery.
(2) *Shared educational agendas and initiatives*. How can we move towards more cooperative and evidence-based approaches to teaching and training in DH across the community? What are the key desiderata for educational innovation in DH? This strand will feature both national agendas and international initiatives including the #dariahTeach platform.
We welcome 200-300 word proposals from anyone involved or interested in the creation and usage of educational resources in DH.
Submissions can be sent via the online submission form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSehm6IWZ3LoXbc6ZLhlAGxq-0C84sSahOX…>. The deadline for submission is *Monday 6th May* at midnight (CET). Applicants will be notified of acceptance by the end of May.
Please note that the Early Bird Registration for the ADHO conference<https://dh2019.adho.org/registration/> is valid until the 29th of March.
Looking forward to seeing you in Utrecht this year!

The University of Pennsylvania Libraries is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies (SIMS) Visiting Research Fellowship program. Guided by the vision of its founders, Lawrence J. Schoenberg and Barbara Brizdle Schoenberg, SIMS aims to bring manuscript culture, modern technology, and people together to provide access to and understanding of our shared intellectual heritage. Part of the Penn Libraries, SIMS oversees an extensive collection of premodern manuscripts from around the world (https://dla.library.upenn.edu/dla/medren), with a special focus on the history of philosophy and science, and creates open-access digital content to support the study of its collections. SIMS also hosts the Schoenberg Database of Manuscripts (https://sdbm.library.upenn.edu/) and the annual Schoenberg Symposium on Manuscript Studies in the Digital Age (http://www.library.upenn.edu/about/exhibits-events/ljs-symposium).
The SIMS Visiting Research Fellowships have been established to encourage research relating to the premodern manuscript collections at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, including the Schoenberg Collection. Affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, located near other manuscript-rich research collections (the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Science History Institute, and the Rosenbach Museum and Library, among many others), and linked to the local and international scholarly communities, SIMS offers fellows a network of resources and opportunities for collaboration. Fellows will be encouraged to interact with SIMS staff, Penn faculty, and other medieval and early modern scholars in the Philadelphia area. Fellows will also be expected to present their research at Penn Libraries either during the term of the fellowship or on a selected date following the completion of the term.
Applicants can apply to spend 1 month (minimum of 4 work weeks) at SIMS between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020. To be considered, applications are due May 15, 2019. For more information and to apply, please visit: https://schoenberginstitute.org/visiting-research-fellowships-2/

As part of the week-long DReAM Lab training event offered by the Price Lab for the Digital Humanities at the University of Pennsylvania, the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies (SIMS) is sponsoring a course on Linked Data for the Humanities<http://web.sas.upenn.edu/dream-lab/2018/09/12/linked-data-for-the-humanitie…>, with Kevin Page and David Lewis, both from the e-Research Centre at Oxford University. The course will be held June 10-14, 2019, in the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books, and Manuscripts at Penn.
Thanks to funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in support of the SIMS-affiliated Mapping Manuscript Migrations<http://mappingmanuscriptmigrations.org/> project, a T-AP Digging Into Data Award recipient, FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS are available for students and early career scholars and professionals.
Here's a summary of the course:
"This course introduces the concepts and technologies behind the Semantic Web and teaches attendees about the standards and practices that underpin Linked Data. Sessions offer a mix of "under the hood" technical details explaining how Linked Data ticks, alongside examples of applied Linked Data from the presenters' own humanities research. Through consideration of these varied uses across the humanities - including musicology, early English literature, and manuscript provenance - attendees will be familiarized with the common patterns by which Linked Data can be applied to their own specialisms. The course will culminate in a full day studying a major new digital humanities resource from the Mapping Manuscript Migrations project, including data from the Schoenberg Database of Manuscripts, exploring the end-to-end application of Linked Data as a solution for both memory institutions and the researchers using them."
