Good afternoon ULethbridge Researchers, In celebration of our upcoming Research and Creative Activity Plan, and to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, the Office of the Vice-President of Research is hosting a Research Mixer on November 17th from 12:00 to 2:00pm in the Zoo Ballroom. You are welcome to stop by anytime during the afternoon, for as much time as you can spare. This event is a great opportunity to share your research and connect with colleagues who have similar interests. Researchers interested in the following topics - regardless of their discipline - are invited to attend: 1) Wellness & Sustainability; 2) Technology & Innovation; 3) Community & Culture. Even if your research doesn’t fall within these categories, you are still welcome to join. The purpose of this event is to foster connection, celebrate accomplishments, and support the development of new research partnerships. Appetizers and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided. Invitation to test the Research Management System

Hello ULethbridge Research Community, We are excited to share that the InfoEd Research Management System (RMS) setup is almost finished! We received great feedback from our first group of volunteer testers and would like to thank them for their time. ORIS is looking for a few more volunteers (~5) to test both the research proposal form and the post-award management interface. This is an opportunity to see the current site and provide feedback to improve your user experience. Please reply to this email by Monday, October 27th at noon to volunteer as a tester. Meetings are scheduled between Thursday, October 23- Thursday, Oct. 30th, where we will demonstrate how the website works, and ask you to complete several example applications. We will try to accommodate your schedule to ensure that you have an opportunity to test the system. Your feedback and support in shaping this process is invaluable. GlycoNet and Alberta Innovates Announce Funding Opportunity

GlycoNet mobilizes Canada’s glycomics expertise into transdisciplinary, focused research and development programs to deliver breakthrough solutions for human and animal health and sustainable agri-food systems. GlycoNet’s 4 priority research areas are: 1) Infectious Diseases 2) Immunology 3) Precision Medicine 4) Animal Health and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems EDMONTON, ALBERTA (October 15, 2025) – New funding investment will support Alberta-led projects in researching new classes of vaccines, precision diagnostics and targeted therapies for Albertans. Alberta Innovates and GlycoNet will jointly invest $2 million in a new partnership to support applied research in Alberta with the intent to commercialize technologies that support patient care. GlycoNet is a national organization based at the University of Alberta that drives glycomics-based research – the study of complex sugars (glycans) that control many of the body’s most critical biological processes. Welcome to our Partnerships and Commercialization Coordinator

Hello everyone, I am pleased to officially welcome Marta Gerasymchuk to the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS) as our new Partnerships and Commercialization Coordinator. Marta has been serving in this role on an interim basis since July 2025, during which time she’s made valuable contributions to our research facilitation efforts and built strong connections with both internal and external partners. Marta brings a rich and diverse background to the team, including dual PhDs in Biomolecular Sciences and Pathological Physiology, two postdoctoral programs, and over 15 years of experience in biomedical research, teaching, and partnership development. Before joining the University of Lethbridge, Marta served as an Associate Professor of Pathological Physiology at a Medical University in Ukraine for 12 years. She is also an international medical graduate and has consulted for pharmaceutical companies here in Canada. Her work with Mitacs Accelerate projects and recent completion of the University of Alberta’s Intellectual Property Strategy and Management course have further strengthened her expertise in technology transfer and commercialization. In 2023, Marta was honored with the University of Lethbridge Volunteer Award for her outstanding contributions to the campus and Lethbridge community. She is passionate about helping researchers translate their work into real-world impact and is excited to continue supporting the growth of our innovation ecosystem.
