The fellowship is worth $40,000 a year, and is tenable for one year, starting in September 2014. The goals of I-CYS, like Child and Youth Studies more generally, are multidisciplinary. Hi all, I know that some institutions like faculty to have certificates of participation for their annual performance reviews. If you've done something at GO::DH and would like a certificate, please let me know and I can give you one. I'm attaching a model that I used for somebody on the outgoing executive. If you would like a certificate, please email me with the following information: 1. Your name and institution, the way you'd like it to appear on the certificate 2. What it is you would like me to certify (e.g. "was a member of the founding executive," "chaired the minimal computing working group" etc. Please keep it short, as it has to fit on the certificate). I'll run them off as a mail merge sometime next week. If for some reason you need a letter, please let me know. They are a bit harder to set up, but I can do that too. Election results

Hi all, The nomination/returning committee (Mia Angelica Alcantara Santiago, Ernesto Priego, and Roopika Risam) have calculated the results of the first GO::DH election. Our first elected executive will consist of the following people (by term and then in alphabetical order): 2-Year Term *Maria Clara Paixão de Sousa** **Øyvind Eide** **Elena González-Blanco García** **Elika Ortega** * 1-Year Term *Barbara Bordalejo** **Domenico Fiormonte** **Alex Gil** **Daniel O'Donnell** * The terms were decided by stated preference and rank order (i.e. people who said they preferred a 1 year term, were given a one year term if they were elected; the remaining spots were filled in descending order of votes received). We elected both a one year and two year term in this first election to ensure that the terms are staggered going forward. Next year, only four positions will be up for election and all vacancies will be for 2 year positions. I'd like to thank the nomination/returning committee for what turned out to be harder work that we initially expected and to all the candidates for both agreeing to stand and being so helpful as we worked out some kinks with the voting system. There was in fact a terrific participation: we had 20 candidates for 8 positions and about 1/3 of GO::DH subscribers (i.e. over 100 people) voted. This is a very high rate of participation. Although with that number of candidates, it was inevitable that very good people would not quite make the threshold for election, I've emailed all privately and know that most are intended to continue to volunteer and share their skills with us. The executive will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, but the real work involves what we as members do. I'd also like to thank the outgoing executive, all of whom volunteered last year to help us set up the organisation. Best, Arianna Ciula (in EADH secretary capacity) ===== Call For Proposals to Host Digital Humanities 2016 Digital Humanities (DH) is the annual international conference of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organisations (AHDO, http://www.adho.org), whose constituent organisations are the European Association for Digital Humanities, the Association for Computers and the Humanities, the Canadian Society for Digital Humanities / Société canadienne des humanités numériques, the Australasian Association for Digital Humanities, CenterNet, and the Japanese Association for Digital Humanities. The next DH conference will be held at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland (http://dh2014.org/) on July 8-12, 2014, and DH 2015 will be in Sydney at the Parramatta campus of the University of Western Sydney from July 6-10, 2015. The committees of DH and its constituent organizations now invite proposals to host DH in 2016, following an earlier call for expressions of interest issued through ADHO's constituent organizations. Traditionally, the conference alternated between North America and Europe, and it was held in the United States in 2013 and will be in Switzerland in 2014. But in 2015, we have already deviated from tradition by accepting a bid from Australia, and we continue to be interested in proposals for hosting the conference in areas where there are developed or developing Digital Humanities communities or organizations that have not hosted conferences. But please note that the local organizer must be a member of one of the ADHO constituent organizations (listed above). The conference has regularly 500 attendees in recent instantiations with 3-4 days of papers and posters. There are normally 4-6 parallel sessions per time slot, and a small number of plenary presentations. Meetings of the committees of the constituent organizations precede the conference, and lunchtime slots are normally used for member meetings of constituent organizations. The academic programme is selected and planned by an international Programme Committee appointed by ADHO constituent organizations. The local organizer at the host institution is responsible for the conference web site, provision of facilities, the production of a book of abstracts, a conference banquet, and any other social events that the local host thinks would be appropriate. The conference is entirely self-financed through conference fees and any other financial contributions that the local organizer is able to arrange. ADHO expects no payment from the local host in the event that the conference makes a profit, but no financial support is provided for the conference by ADHO or its constituent organizations, except in relation to the recipient of ADHO awards, such as named prizes or bursaries, and a modest incentive to ensure that the membership status of registrants is validated by the local host. In consultation with the Program Committee, the local organizer may suggest plenary speakers whose travel, subsistence and registration must be funded from the conference budget. The local organizer is expected to set (and verify) three levels of fees: members of ADHO constituent organizations, non-members, and students. The difference between the fee levels for members and non-members should be no less than the cost of an individual subscription to ADHO's main print journal, Literary and Linguistic Computing, because subscription to the journal is what qualifies an individual for the member rate. ADHO uses the conference management system Conftool, and the ADHO Conference Coordinating Committee provides support for this system, including access to data from previous conferences. Local organizers are required to use the Conftool system for registering participants, including participants in special events such as the banquet, but actual credit card payments are often processed outside Conftool, by the local organizer. Proposals should include: · overview of facilities at the host institution · overview of local institutional engagement and support for the local organizer · possible arrangements for social events, to include the conference banquet · options for accommodation (with provisional costs) · travel information and advice · a provisional budget, with a provisional registration fee · options for payment (credit card, foreign currency etc) by participants Proposers must be prepared to give a short presentation and to answer questions at the ADHO Steering Committee meeting and Constituent Organisation meetings at the DH2014 conference in Lausanne, Switzerland in advance of DH2014. Budgets and other information about past conferences can be made available for planning purposes on request. For further information, proposers may discuss their plans informally with the Chair of the ADHO Conference Coordinating Committee, John Nerbonne (<john's-first-initial> dot <nerbonne's-lastname> [at] rug dot nl). It has finally been transformed into what is now referred to as a transmedia experience. The latter consists in either individual or collective experience of access to the content through equipment, interfaces and diversified uses, each creating new entry points in the data exchanges and flow. The transmedia experience described above by Louise Merzeau is directly related to the environment ; namely the spatial, material and software configurations in which the user is set. The support thus becomes the environment, thanks to the way in which we (inter)act. Considering the diversity of practices, supports and representations that together create the support-environment, what is the unity factor ? What is the smallest common denominator that allows this environment to be meaningful ? The ballot contains biographies of all candidates who provided them and a form for selecting up to 8 choices. The form also asks for your email address. This is used only to ensure eligibility and avoid inadvertent multiple votes. Your ballot is secret--only the aggregate results will be shared. The ballot will remain open for one week, until the end of Monday 3 Mar 2014 at the International dateline (i.e. Noon UTC Tuesday March 4).
