Please select up to four names from the list below. Titilola Aiyegbusi Titilola Aiyegbusi is a Ph.D student at the University of Toronto where she studies Black Canadian life writing. Specifically, she examines how the narratives of Black women have impacted Black consciousness in Canada. She is also intrigued by the transformational potential of digital humanities and explores how it can be deployed to uncover marginalized narratives, thereby making them easily accessible. As a complement to her interest in the Canadian landscape, Aiyegbusi follows the development of DH in Africa. She is currently investigating the digital culture of developing communities with the goal of teasing out explanations for the divide between digital literacy and DH activities in such spaces. * Yes Jong-Keyong Kim I am currently writing my dissertation titled Gothic Ontography: Changing Materialism in British Ghost Stories, 1764-1913. It argues that literary ghosts of the period were always material by examining long nineteenth-century British Gothic writers’ spectral imagination as a prism that reflects a human conception of realities and the relationship between subjects and objects in those realities as scientific materialism started to exert its influence on human’s perception of the natural and the supernatural. Specifically, I analyze literary ghosts’ association with antiquarianism in Horace Walpole’s The Castle of Otranto (1764), meteorology in P. B. Shelley’s poems, pecuniary inheritance (property) in Charlotte Riddell’s The Uninhabited House (1875) compared to Wilkie Collins’s The Haunted Hotel (1878), and scientific investigation of ghosts (spiritualism and Society for Psychotherapy Research) in the collections of psychic detective stories of Algernon Blackwood and William Hope Hodgson. As for my approach to digital humanities, I apply Word2Vec and anomaly detection to a corpus of the long nineteenth-century Gothic literature that I have been building to discuss the value of ghost stories as a genre in terms of literary and statistical outliers. In addition, I am also interested in DH pedagogy and data analysis of research questions that Korean researchers in English literary studies have posed since 2000. * Yes Emmanuel Ngue Um Associate Professor in Linguistics; Head of the Department of Cameroonian Languages and Cultures at ENS Bertoua (Cameroon); Director of the Archive of Languages and Oral Resources of Africa (ALORA); Member of the Governance Committee of ELP; Member of the Committee of HumaNum.My research interests lie at the intersection of languages, cultures, and technology. He is a research assistant on the Canterbury Tales Project. His BA and MA are from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His other interests are Spanish Medieval literature and Mexican traditional riddles. His doctoral dissertation researches the textual tradition of Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde. The group established the Translation Board<http://www.globaloutlookdh.org/translation-commons/> and runs various Translation Initiatives to make global digital humanities scholarship available to the broadest possible audience. We would like to expand the Translation Board to provide the website content and other messages in many different languages. The Global Outlook::DH Translation Board is a group of volunteers who translate the organization’s announcements, publications, and projects into languages other than English, and/or who translate scholarship written in other languages into English for dissemination through GO::DH. Disrupting Digital Monolingualism workshop report

Dear colleagues I'm happy to announce that we have just published our report on the Disrupting Digital Monolingualism workshop event which was held last year: https://zenodo.org/record/5743283<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fzenodo.or…> Subtitled 'A report on multilingualism in digital theory and practice', it summarises and analyses this virtual event which aimed to map the current state of multilingualism in digital theory and practice through, and across, languages and cultures. In recent years, various initiatives have aimed to address the challenges for digital linguistic diversity, including work on biocultural diversity, endangered languages, digital cultural studies, multilingual language technologies and global perspectives on digital humanities. This workshop aimed to strengthen connections between numerous overlapping digital and languages-driven conversations and initiatives. The report may interest those working on the following themes: 1. Linguistic and geocultural diversity in digital knowledge infrastructures 2. Working with multilingual methods and data 3. Transcultural and translingual approaches to digital study 4. Artificial intelligence, machine learning and NLP in language worlds The workshop was hosted by the Language Acts & Worldmaking project with the support of the Cross-Language Dynamics: Reshaping Community project, both projects funded by the AHRC as part of its Open World Research Initiative. Call for volunteers: ADHO Anti-racism Task Force

We seek to engage community expertise and desire for change to help ADHO take action on the intersecting concerns articulated in our statement on Black Lives Matter, Structural Racism, and Establishment Violence<https://adho.org/blm-structuralracism-establishmentviolence>. ADHO seeks the help of the Anti-structural-racism Task Force to develop a strategy that will: 1) reach every component of the organization, with a focus on the ways in which ADHO activities and policies affect individuals; 2) engage the wider DH community through a range of channels; 3) seek pathways to gathering both experiential narratives and measurable data to identify problems that can be targeted and addressed over time, iteratively; and 4) work towards the commitments to action made in the statement. The initial term of the Task Force will be two years, at which time, taking into account the recommendation of the Task Force, the ADHO COB will decide whether to extend its term (if Task Force members are willing) or take some other action such as converting it to a standing committee or disbanding it. We recognize that not all of the tasks will be undertaken by the Task Force; that some may be undertaken by the EB, the COB, or in collaboration with the COs; and that they cannot all be achieved within the 2-year time frame.
