Search engine (without) a difference

Dear all, Humanist subscribers on this list may have seen already my message in reply to the launch of the new EPI Search engine (http://isce-library.net/epi.aspx). Basically, I was discussing the implicit (and undeclared) linguistic bias of this tool, and I gave few examples. As I did not get any reply from ISCE, and the examples were expunged from the Humanist email, I decided to republish my reflection on our blog: http://infolet.it/2016/04/06/search-engine-without-a-difference/ Hope it will help others to reflect on the profound epistemic and cultural consequences of these instruments. We've discovered a problem with access from one country having to do with legal issues. EADH - Call for Nominations

Dear colleagues, The executive committee of The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) will hold elections for three positions on its executive committee this month and the election committee calls for nominations. See our Constitution <http://eadh.org/about/constitution> for more information. Any member of the association may be nominated for election to the committee provided (i) the nomination is supported by two members of the association other than the nominee, (ii) the nominee confirms his or her willingness to serve in writing, and (iii) the nomination reaches the EADH secretary by April 16, 2016. The nominee must include a statement of about 200 words indicating why he or she wishes to stand for election and how he or she wishes to serve the EADH. Nominations may be sent to nominations(a)eadh.org no later than midnight, April 16, 2016 (GMT). Questions about serving on the EADH committee position may be addressed confidentially to Bárbara Bordalejo <barbara.bordalejo(a)kuleuven.be> (barbara .bordalejo(a)kuleuven.be - Chair of the nominating committee). Election ballot: keep an eye on your mailbox (and spam filter)

Hi all, The election ballot is open for this year's GO::DH executive. We are using OpaVote this year to run the ballot (an online system). Everybody who is a subscriber to the list should be getting a separate email from the system inviting you to vote. If you are subscribed under multiple email addresses, you may get more than one invitation (though we've tried to catch them). If you notice that you do get more than one invitation, please act on only one. If for some reason you accidentally vote twice, let us know and we'll see if there's anything we can do. Because the email is coming from the OpaVote system, if could end up in your spam filter.
