Assistant Professor – Latin American Literature
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Institute for Ethnic Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seek a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Latin American literature to begin August 2016. Applicants would hold a joint appointment with 0.60 FTE in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and 0.40 in Ethnic Studies. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent in Latin American literature or a related field, a record of achievement in scholarship, an active research agenda, and evidence of excellence in teaching. Candidates must possess native or near native fluency in Spanish and in English, and must be able to teach graduate and undergraduate classes in both languages.
Applicants’ research emphases, broadly conceived, might include, but are not limited to Mexican studies, Latino/a studies, immigration/border studies, gender studies, cultural studies, translation, digital humanities, or Afro-Hispanic studies. Responsibilities include maintaining an active program of research and pursuing external funding, as well contributing to the teaching and engagement missions of both units.
