Hi all,
I have a question.
I'm on the board at Force11.org, a society dedicated to the advancement of scholarly and scientific communication. It holds a really interesting, interdisciplinary conference each year that brings together people in the humanities and sciences, from commercial presses and non-profit journals, and so on, for what has in the past been an extremely interesting meeting. Among the highlights are the "$1k challenges": a competition for ideas that Force11 then gives $1000 to support.
Since Force11 started in the Natural Sciences and in Western Europe and North America, it is particularly interested in promoting participation from people outside these groups. It has an extremely well-funded student bursary programme, for example.
Can anybody on this list recommend places where I could send information about the conference and the call? The meeting will be 12-13 Jan in Oxford (and will involve a showing of the first volume of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, the first scholarly journal, which was published 350 years ago next year).
For more information on the meeting, see https://www.force11.org/meetings/force2015. The deadline for abstracts is November 15 and the deadline for posters in Dec. 1.
