Drage kolegice, dragi kolege,
I have recently joined the GO:DH mailing list, so I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Neven Jovanovic, I work at the University of Zagreb, Croatia (at the Department of Classical Philology), and my primary interest in digital humanities is exploring texts, especially in Latin. To this purpose we have built a digital collection Croatiae auctores Latini (CroALa, www.ffzg.unizg.hr/klafil/croala, using ARTFL's PhiloLogic and TEI XML standard), containing Latin texts written by people connected with Croatia, and currently we're trying to see what can we learn from this collection that could not have been learned otherwise.
Croatia, with population of 4.5 million, is a small country, and its DH community is small enough that we all know each other. It has its advantages and disadvantages, of course. The country is also heavily hit by an economic crisis and uses a small language, so its resources in language technology and digitisation of cultural heritage are relatively limited (and not always coherent).
That is why I'm interested to see what will arise from GO:DH discussions and exchange of ideas. And I'll circulate the news about GO:DH to people I know.
Srdačno,
Neven

Encantada de conocerte, Neven. Creo que sería saludable que nos presentásemos en la lista, así como hizo el colega de Croacia, con unas 5 o 7 oraciones.
Nice to meet you, Neven. I think it will be good that all oof us make an small presentation for the mailing list members, Just 5 o 7 sentences, liken this colleague did.

I'm Dan O'Donnell, an Anglo-Saxon philologist and book historian by training, who's been busy in DH (and Humanities Computing before it) since beginning my digital edition of Caedmon's Hymn in 1998.
I'm a Professor of English at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta Canada. In recent years, I've probably been more DH than medievalist. I'm working on a major digital edition of the Ruthwell Cross (http://visionarycross.org/) but a lot of my work has been on larger meta-initiatives: digitalmedievalist.org, the TEI, this.

Hi all,
I think it's probably my turn now. I'm Alex Gil. I am currently digital scholarship coordinator at Columbia University where I work on a variety of digital humanities initiatives. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, and have lived in 3 continents since. I have done some deep research on the archives related to Aimé Césaire, especially his activity during the 1940s. I try to understand as best as I can how he started building his own 'global network.' Since I've started at Columbia I've been indulging more on my generalist side.

Amistosamente, A.

Hey everyone. It's been nice to meet you all!
My name is Lee Skallerup Bessette. I'm originally from Montreal, Canada. I currently live in Morehead, Kentucky where I teach English. I am relatively new to DH, but my research interests include looking at the writing on the Caribbean diaspora in both French and English. Currently I am working on Haitian author Dany Laferriere. I organized a panel at the most recent Modern Languages Association conference about Building Bridges Within Digital Humanities.
Looking forward to working with everyone.

Hi all,
I think it's probably my turn now.
Creo que me toca a mi. Yo soy Alex Gil.
Amistosamente, A.

En estos momentos estoy activo en ADHO (http://adho.org/), ALLC-EADH (http://www.allc.org/) y varias iniciativas de humanidades digitales en castellano/español.
I'm Senior Lecturer at the Department of Digital Humanities (DDH), King's College London and my research interests include digital text modelling/publication, the application of digital humanities methods & tools to Spanish and Spanish American studies and the multilingual/multicultural challenges for international DH. Indeed!
I'm Dan O'Donnell, an Anglo-Saxon philologist and book historian by
training,
who's been busy in DH (and Humanities Computing before it) since
beginning
my digital edition of Caedmon's Hymn in 1998.
I'm a Professor of English at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta
Canada. In
recent years, I've probably been more DH than medievalist. I'm working on a major digital edition of the Ruthwell Cross (http://visionarycross.org/) but a lot of my work has been on larger meta-initiatives: digitalmedievalist.org, the TEI, this.

To this purpose we have built a digital collection Croatiae auctores Latini (CroALa, www.ffzg.unizg.hr/klafil/croala, using ARTFL's PhiloLogic and TEI
XML
standard), containing Latin texts written by people connected with Croatia, and currently we're trying to see what can we learn from this collection that could not have been learned otherwise.
Srdačno,
Neven
