The Sinai Library Digitization Project (SLDP) is an international, collaborative effort to digitize and make available online the Syriac and Arabic manuscripts from St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, Egypt. This is a 2.5 year, grant-funded position to coordinate workflows for arrangement and description of Syriac and Arabic manuscripts digitized as part of the Sinai Library Digitization Project, with opportunities to expand responsibilities in a number of different areas depending on previous experience and skills. CFP: Chicago Colloquium on Digital Humanities and Computer Science 2018 (DHCS 2018) November 9-11 at Loyola University Chicago Water Tower Campus

We are pleased to announce that DHCS 2018 will be taking place at Loyola University Chicago's downtown Water Tower Campus on November 9-11, 2018! Visit the conference website at www.dhcs2018.com. The Chicago Colloquium on Digital Humanities and Computer Science (DHCS) brings together researchers, scholars, librarians, and technologists in the humanities and computer science from across the country and around the world to examine the current state of digital humanities as a field of intellectual inquiry and to identify and explore new directions and perspectives for future research. We are pleased to announce that the thirteenth meeting of the DHCS will be held at the Water Tower Campus of Loyola University Chicago on November 9-11, 2018. The conference is interested in proposals for papers, panels, workshops, and posters from people at all ranks whose work contributes to the themes of the conference. Potential topics include (but are not limited to): * visualization tools, theories, methodologies, and workflows to make sense of Big Data; * digital approaches to textual studies; * public digital humanities; * digital accessibility; * digital humanities pedagogy; * preserving the digital humanities; * digital gaming, critical play, game design, and gaming culture; * creative coding and electronic literature; * studies on uses and behaviors of Social media sites users; * digital humanities technologies (e.g., mapping, text-mining); * digital humanities project design/management; * institutional DH partnerships and project-based collaborations; * community-based online media practices; * digital representation. We hope the scope and topical breadth of the conference will stimulate an interdisciplinary dialogue that crosses traditional professional barriers. We are particularly interested in international and underserved populations' perspectives on digital humanities and computer science. We welcome submissions of the following formats: * Papers/Presentations (15 minutes) * Panels (60-90 minutes) * Posters * Workshops (60-90 minutes) Applicants should submit a title and 200-300 word abstract along with a brief biography or C.V. by 15 July 2018 to EasyChair (https://easychair.org/cfp/dhcs2018?<http://>) . This librarian will be an expert in applying geospatial concepts and techniques to the research agendas of faculty and students, will enhance curricula, and support research innovation across the University relating to spatial, numerical and visual thinking. The librarian will design and deliver consulting services to faculty and students using spatial data in a wide range of units across the University, and will collaborate with other units providing GIS support. The Librarian will work closely with Data Management Services Librarian, the Digital Humanities Librarian, the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Collection Strategist, and others throughout University Libraries to increase understanding of geospatial data issues pertaining to research and teaching throughout the Libraries and on campus at large. The librarian will be responsible for developing, curating, teaching and assessing geospatial data collections and associated software for their use in enhancing course development and research innovation. International Summer School on Digital Art History: Data-Driven Analysis and Digital Narratives (DAHSS18)

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce that the International Summer School on Digital Art History (DAHSS), a joint initiative of the University of Málaga and the University of Berkeley, will celebrate the third edition from September 3 to 8 (2018) in Málaga (Spain). The application period is now open (until June 21). Please, visit: http://historiadelartemalaga.uma.es/dahss18/en/applications/ Intended audience: postgraduate students, academic researchers, independent scholars and professionals related to the following disciplines: Art History and Visual Studies, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Sciences, Media and New Media Studies and Museum Studies. The course has a theoretical-practical orientation: theoretical exchange and critical discussions will be combined with practical sessions (lab-based sessions) through which participants will work collaboratively in common projects. The course is organized around three tracks. Track A: Data and the Arts: In Track A, lead by Greg Niemeyer (UC Berkeley), you will explore what role data can play in the arts from the ancient Nilometer to current circulation data and machine vision but also addressing artwork that deals explicitly with the cultural deficit around data and machine learning. You will learn how to collect data with sensors, how to manipulate that data, and how to present it in interactive ways online. No coding experience required, we will teach and use javascript and p5.js for our weeklong projects, and you will go home with a completed project online. Track B: Data Analysis: What is the story of art that data tells us? How can data analysis create new views on the history of art? What is the meaning of a pixel? In this track B, lead by Harald Klinke (LMU Munich), you will learn the basics of data acquisition, scripting and visualization in order to gain knowledge and experience necessary for pursuing a data-driven Art History (data literacy). No prior knowledge necessary, bring your own laptop. Track C: 3D Modeling. This track, lead by Justin Underhill (UCB), will explore interactive media using the Unity game engine. We will experiment with different ways of exploring virtual space, and will see how we might use augmented and virtual reality to practice Digital Art History. We will also ask ourselves how to best design visualizations and historical reconstructions for these environments. The program will include a specific session to discuss the challenges of publishing in Digital Art History, especially publishing data along with research papers. Hi all, finally went through the first several pages of the DARIAH list, parsing what I could. Learned that there is conflation between "course" and "program" in some universities in Europe. Still not 100% clear how it works. Thanks to Corina's list, I was able to add several Italian and Spanish programs. Nothing from Portugal yet. I do encourage people on the list to help with the list. It is already the largest such list of programs around the world. Eventually the list will handed over to ACH for maintenance. If you believe this can be a valuable resource, please contribute.
