Hi all, In case you haven't seen this. An important and truly difficult debate is happening on (mostly US) social media channels around the US-based Journal of Digital Humanities peer-review process. Sarah, I'm interested, especially in DH from the library perspective, although I'm not working on a particular project. I know of several libraries building amazing digital collections (UNM for a start) of LAS-related materials. I'm thinking something along the lines of of a survey or theory contribution. Besides, it would be fun to work with you again! Call for reviewers: especially with knowledge of Chinese, German, Polish and/or health informatics

Hi all, As I think I announced just under a month ago, we had an excellent response to the first GO::DH essay prize. There were 54 submissions in seven languages and covering a very wide range of topics. I have just finished assigning readers from our adjudication panel to the papers. Between them, the 12 member panel have experience with 6 of the seven languages and all topics represented in the pool. We could, however, due with some reinforcements in a couple of areas: We could use one or two more readers of the following languages: Chinese, German, and Polish We could use additional expertise in the following subject area: Health Informatics and/or Development Informatics. I would greatly appreciate nominations of potential readers with experience in one or more of these languages and/or this subject area (self-nominations are also welcome). You (or your nominee) do not need experience in more than one of these languages or subject areas. These are just four places where having an additional reader or two would be very helpful to the committee. Members of the adjudication committee can expect to have primary or secondary responsibility for scoring 6-8 abstracts (3~4 as primary reader, 3~4 as secondary reader). All members of the panel will be expected to read all abstracts on the shortlist. The scoring needs to be done by the second week in September. suggest digital scholarship centers for global benchmarking study?

Hi all, I’m currently working with three colleagues on a Mellon-funded research project to explore the skills and competencies required to support digital scholarship in the humanities and social sciences. In order to define benchmarks, we will be visiting ten “best in class” digital scholarship centers around the world, five in North America, five international. When we met Alex Gil at the Digital Humanities conference, he suggested that we post a message to the group introducing ourselves and our project. We’re interested in hearing from the GO::DH community about potential locations for us to visit during the next year. We are using a variety of criteria to identify potential sites to visit. These include impact, innovation and/or strong training and education programs, as well as a willingness to participate in a site visit. Un saluto cordiale, Domenico Fiormonte [English] As some of you may have read on Humanist, the European Network Dixit (Digital Scholarly Edition Initial Training Network) was officially launched : http://dixit.uni-koeln.de/ The network consists of ten leading institutions in Europe, including DigiLab La Sapienza, which I represent in the project. The aim of the network, as the title says, is essentially the training of young researchers in the creation of digital editions. The program mainly does two things: it offers substantial scholarships (17 in all) and it organizes training events.
