Hello people! i have great news. a few days ago i was granted the Canadian Visa for one Year (Visitor Business Visa) multiple entrances. here is the thing, i have been working in the digital library webpage using omeka as the main plataform, the main goal is get all the literature from the last 50 years in to this plataform and make it visible for the next generations and also tribute to the rescue of the history of the creative literature from womens in cuban history. saying this im looking for support in Canada DH community in order to keep this project alive: i need a place to host the database website and upload all the digital books, images, notes about females writers. looking forward to hear from you soon. Digital Editing, Literature and Gender Studies Call for Papers The Cologne Centre for eHumanities (CCeH) is organising a three-day symposium from the 8th to the 10th of November at the University of Cologne. The event aims at exploring intersectional approaches on textual scholarship and Digital Humanities theories, practices, and tools. A session will be dedicated to Italian and German women writers during the Renaissance. This specific case study is part of a project funded by NetEx (Network and Exchange funding programme, University of Cologne). We welcome proposals in any area of scholarship, that pay specific attention to intersectionality, and that employ digital and collaborative approaches to the study or the editing of marginalised subjectivities and their digital modelling and representations. We encourage the submission of projectsÃ¢Â€Â™ presentations at an advanced stage that investigate how digital technologies can re/produce, enable or restrict the construction of identities (e.g. in racialised and gendered terms). Researchers of all levels, including students and professional practitioners, are welcome. We expect a diverse audience of textual scholars, historians, information scientists, social scientists, digital humanists, graduate students and interested members of the public. The communication language of the symposium will be English, but we are accepting proposals and papers in English, Italian and German. Dear all, sorry to be slow answering. First of all, I would like to call your attention on a key aspect of the Global Debates CFP: we will publish all original papers online! The printed volume will be in English, but the online version will be multilingual. As far as I know this is one of the first experiments of this kind not only in the DH field (Marin Dacos rightly remembered http://net-lang.net/, a remarkable *bilingual* project). I think we should be grateful to both the series editors and Minnesota UP for accepting this challenge. As already pointed out by members of this list, this would be one of the first time that a group of scholars not based in (or linked to) Anglophone institutions will co-edit a collection published in the US. In DDH2016 out of around 50 published texts only two or three were authored by people not based in Anglophone organizations (i.e. US, UK, Australia). Paola, Sukanta, and I are very grateful to Matt and Lauren because they wanted to challenge and may be reverse this trend. Judging for the encouraging public and private messages we got so far it seems that the non-English DH community is celebrating this event, and we are all excited about moving the project forward. But of course as all projects, also the Global Debates volume project has some limitations, both in terms of resources and scope. Paola, Sukanta and I have discussed at length the translation problem, and we will be happy to find alternative and creative solutions for translating accepted papers. If a prospect author will not have the resources to translate his/her final text, we’ll try to find a solution with the help of the publisher, the series editors, and of course everyone in the DH international community. However, the first step of the process would be to select abstracts, which can submitted in other languages than English (see the CFP). In conclusion, we believe the risk of exclusion of accepted papers would be very low, and the alarm should be watered down. It will be in our responsibility as editors to ensure that the whole process will be conducted in a fair, equal and transparent way. Personally, I agree with Ernesto Priani: solutions to the linguistic and/or cultural exclusion should be designed preferably *from* the South and *for* the South. Two years ago we created a South-South dialogue group, and we started to discuss these issues. This thread started from a legitimate concern on language policies, but honestly I don’t think that monolingualism is the biggest problem of DH (and in general of science: http://m.scidev.net/sub-saharan-africa/publishing/news/southern-scholars-mi…): we all know that the real problem is the supremacy of the Anglophone epistemological models, structures, organizations that have a direct effect on the educational models and on the ways of constructing and disseminating knowledge and research. Dear all, We have had many newcomers join us to the list after Montreal. I wanted to personally welcome you to the GO::DH mailing list. Please feel free to ask anything, share opportunities and projects of interest to folks working around the world. You can speak in any language you please. Yo hablo en español a veces. Sometimes we debate issues here, and we do so in a spirit of understanding of our differences and generosity to our colleagues. You just arrived at an important moment for GO::DH. An important volume on Global Debates in Digital Humanities <http://dhdebates.gc.cuny.edu/cfps/cfp_2017_global_digital_humanities.html>, edited by Domenico Fiormonte, Sukanta Chaudhuri, and Paola Ricaurte, has been announced, and we hope many of you will consider contributions. More generally for us as a community, we are trying to decide the future of GO::DH itself: should we become a constituent organization of ADHO, or should we focus on discussions and projects. Our aim with this project it is not only to make visible non-Anglophone or non-Western research, but to give a voice to alternative views of DH. Apologies for cross-posting!** *The Alliance of Digital Humanities (ADHO) is looking for enthusiastic Digital Humanists who would like to actively help further DH in all its breadth and diversity on a global scale.* The ADHO Steering Committee (SC) has several vacancies to be filled, starting August 8, 2017, until July 1st 2018 (when the governance structure of ADHO will change). Extensions of service in some comparable roles after July 1, 2018, may be considered. If you’re interested in helping ADHO and the worldwide DH community become a *more transparent, inclusive, and beneficial network* for the many organizations and individuals that make up the ADHO community, then please consider becoming a candidate for one of these volunteer offices. Current and former office-holders are available to answer your questions and to help orient you to the work involved.
